Press Release: Money Laundering Arrests : 8th February 2007

Today at approximately 07:30am officers from the Met’s Money Laundering Team assisted by officers on the Daniel Morgan murder investigation team, arrested a man from an address in Tadworth, Surrey.

A 52 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of money laundering offences and possession of a firearm. He has been taken to a south London police station, pending further enquiries.

Several canisters of CS gas and a small amount of cash were seized from the address in Tadworth.

Additionally a 45 year old woman was arrested on suspicion of money laundering offences. She has been taken to a South London police station pending further enquiries.

Officers executed four search warrants at the man’s home address in Tadworth, two residential addresses in Carlshalton and Mitcham and a business premises in Wallington.

Approximately 30 officers were involved in the operation and were assisted by a search team and cash/drugs dogs.

The man and woman have been detained under the proceeds of crime act. Police will be seeking to freeze all of their assets and if the monies have been illegally obtained a confiscation order may be sought.
