PRESS RELEASE BY METROPOLITAN POLICE 14TH NOVEMBER 2006
APPEAL FOR WITNESS
Detectives investigating a 19-year-old murder are appealing for a
woman who came forward at the time to contact them again.
The woman spoke to police following a television appeal about the
murder of private investigator Daniel Morgan. He was found with
an axe embedded in his head in the Golden Lion pub
car park in Sydenham Road, Sydenham, on March 10, 1987.
The woman contacted police anonymously and met up with a female
officer in the foyer of East Croydon train station on June 1 that year.
She is described as white, was of medium build at the time and wore
a white jacket to the meeting. Investigating officer Detective Chief Superintendent Dave Cook said:
It is really important we speak to this woman again.
Call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you are the woman and ask to be
put in contact with the detectives dealing with Daniel Morgans
murder.
